Project 1, Assignment 1

Email location of website
The top of this section is http://faculty.njcu.edu/jvelasco/edtech/edtc617
or, you can simply click the EDTC617 link on the navigation bar. Notice the URL does not include a specific page name. This is intentional. Each folder within my website has its own index.htm page. More on this in my navigation rationale.

Website Content

As of October 28th, I have re-oriented the final project. It will now provide support for a new course I will be teaching in the spring for for Saturday Semester Program at NJCU. The title of the course is "Outlook in a Nutshell". In preliminary discussions, this will be a 3-hour course, but the scope may change before the planning is over.

Splash Page (Optional)

I've decided not to create a splash page for the moment. Though I understand the need for flashy, modern advertising type page to create excitement and interest, but if an index page doesn't factiltate access to the core information quickly, then who needs it? I believe tone and style can be set by the pages themselves through consistant use of page formatting and navigation.

Site Color Scheme

All websites hosted by NJCU must follow specific guidelines, and include specific components. The guidelines vary depending on the website content. Though the use of color is left open for facutly websites, I've chosen to follow the specific color guidelines for departmental pages. Conforming to these specifications will help visitors coming from the Main or Departmental websites keep a consistant frame of reference, i.e. it will feel as though the visitor is still somewhere within the NJCU web space!

Site Metaphor

I will consider using a metaphor for the website, though I feel that a simple presentation is appropriate for this specific application. I fear the main reason for this is a distinct lack of creativity in this area on my behalf. Therefore, any recommendations of an approprate metaphor are most welcome.
