Welcome to my Educational Technology thesis page!

The purpose of the study is to determine the general state of readiness of the members of NJEDge.Net for the emerging video services being offered by the state of New Jersey through the Commission of Higher Education. Additionally, the study will bring to light how these services are currently being used in the classroom and will attempt to measure the overall readiness of the institutions to be able to use these services.

This website serves several purposes. First, it is for personal reference during the course. It is also the location for public distribution of the reseach materials and final thesis. It may also be of interest to anyone seeking a Master's degree in Educational Technology at NJCU and to those who take this course. Finally, the site, itself, may serve as an example for others adopting a website as a portfolio for their own material.

The author wishes to thank his advisor and the NJEDge.Net executive committee, my friends, family, and colleagues at work, for their support of this project. It would have not been possible without their help and encouragement.

NJ's Higher Educational Network
NJEDge.Net website
This website is the source for much of the information used in my study. Content from the recent addition of video clips of the October 2003 convention were also used. Not having been able to attend these presentations in person, I was delighted to find them online. The fact that the videos were there re-inforces NJEDge.Net's ipVideo mission.

Improving Teacher Quality Program
www.smart-teachers.com
The ITQ is a professional development program sponsored by NJCU and the Jersey City public schools. The program focuses on motivational tools that bring a sense of wonder back into the classroom. The website itself appears to be a work in progress under development by my advisor. I look forward to seeing more from this group.

Dialing Plan.com
Telecommunications Glossary
The company is a broker for discount long distance carriers. They provide the glossary as a public service. All telecomm managers should be familiar with these terms, but who can remember them all? This is a good reference.

Nathan Stratton's
US LATA Map
This is a complete map of the Local Area Transport Areas (LATAs) in the United States. Like ITQ, the website is a personal project. Mr. Stratton is a telecommunica-tions enterpreneur and consultant, with 10 years experience.

Personal Telco Project
Portland Community Wireless LAN Resource Guide
Apparently, there's a revolution going on. Grassroots efforts to promote free or nearly-free wireless communities has found a home at this website. It is also a great resource for implementing wireless networks of all types. Warning: This is a noisy website, but you can shut off the noise at the top of each page. Also, clicking on the "Welcome to the Wireless LAN Revolution" link takes you to, what appears to be, an alternate site.
