See the Office of the Registrar's Information

| Q: |
Why are my assignments graded on a 4 point scale?
|
| A:
|
There
is no need to use a 100 point scale for evaluating the
assignment objectives. The 4 point scale in .1 increments
is a simple scale that is consistent with the University grading system. |
| Q: |
What
does my assignment grade translate to on the letter scale? |
| A:
|
Assignment
assessments is based on a 4 point scale, which matches
the NJCU grading system. That grade scale is posted in
the course catalogs. The scale on the right is based on
this standard, but includes grade ranges. |
| Q: |
The
assignment grades are posted on the Assignment Sheet in
Grade Scale, but are posted on the Summary Sheet in percent
scale. Why? |
| A: |
In
order to calculate an average grade for the course, all
assessments must be in the same scale. This allows me
to use a simple weighted calculation and a reasonable
letter translation scale for your final grade. (The grades
are equivalent, but in different scales.) This calculation
and letter scale is included in the Grades Summary sheet. |
| Q: |
I noticed the grading scale posted on the Grade Summary page is different from the grading table on this page. Why is that? |
|
| A: |
After analyzing the point spread differences of the table on this page, I noticed that grades are not spread out equally. Using Excel to compare spreads, I adjusted the grade scale slightly to balance the distribution a little better. |
